Using Demotivators Posters to Find Motivation

For the most part, I am a very positive minded person. But I think everyone has days where things just seem demotivating. Instead of fighting it today, I am going to embrace it with somewhat humorous Demotivators posters from Despair.com.

Achievement Demotivators Poster

There are so many things I want to achieve right now, including three more blogs, but I have no expendable labor. Just myself. And that resource is being fully consumed.

Burnout Demotivators Poster

When you realize the time you have daily is less than the time you need to accomplish all of the things you want to get done.

Challenges Demotivators Poster

Seriously, what happened to the little things working out? Like when I finally have the time to run up to the place to reserve the site for our wedding, and I get there to find out they are closed for the day.

Delusions Demotivators Poster

I feel like I’m at a plateau. Things I want learn and be good at so badly do not seem to be going well. It leaves me feeling like I should re-evaluate my goals to see if they are more delusional (in terms of time I have to work on them) than realistic.

Do It Later Demotivators Poster

In an attempt to get some things under control, I put other things off. The early bird has seemingly gotten a lot of the worms I needed.

Get To Work Demotivators Poster

This is definitely something I need to do. Get to work on my outstanding projects, finish unpacking, start my yoga again, wedding planning and so forth.

Limitations Demotivators Poster

I just threw this one on here because I love penguins.

Madness Demotivators Poster

That voice has been the never ending to do list. It feels like no matter where I am, what I am doing, I am always thinking of the next thing I need to do. It can be maddening.

Pressure Demotivators Poster

A basket case – that is exactly what I have felt like on and off for the past few weeks. And I don’t particularly care for being that way!

So today, by allowing myself to finally accept the fact that yes, I am demotivated, I have found source of my demotivation – time. I just need to get organized – get a routine back in place like I had months ago, and plot out a schedule of time to do all the things I want and need to do. Then I will be back on track and motivated again.

  4. I’m not a big fan of motivation posters, Kristi. The cynic in me prefers these – they are funny and sadly true.

I think you do have too much going on right now. You need to decide what needs to get done, break it into manageable tasks, and be proud of each small bit that gets accomplished.

When I was planning my wedding, I made a spreadsheet with everything I needed to do, contact info, and costs. It really helped me stay organized and not get too stressed about it.

I wouldn’t start any new blogs until after you get married. Well, that’s just my opinion.

Have you considered that you might be feeling down because of all the changes and because of your grandmother? You’ve had a lot going on recently that would make anyone feel overwhelmed.

Sending you a virtual hug :-)

Thanks for a good chuckle today! Everyone needs to call a timeout when it starts getting too hectic; to stop and regroup, what’s really important to me right now, will this matter a hundred years from now?

@Political Disgust: I had seen that on a friend’s site before, and I always thought it was one of the best ones.

    @Barb: Glad you liked it.

@Alexander: Yes, that is the one that was probably the most motivational demotivator!

@Kim: Thanks for the virtual hug. I think you are right… a lot of what has been going on recently still gets me underneath it all. Like the fact I keep dreaming about my grandmother, almost every night.

It’s funny, I wanted to get most of the other websites up in hopes I can earn a little from them for the wedding. :) Also, I’m one of those people that can’t work on anything until certain things get done, and right now, we have to get the site reserved before I can go any further thinking about it.

@Miruh: Stop and regroup. Exactly what I need to do, and I will, hopefully, tonight.

@Debbie: They are funny, and oddly motivating in their demotivation.

  8. David says:

Very nicely done! But seriously, I won’t use these when I need motivating. ;)

  9. Good stuff! I must be Delusional at times, but I can really relate to you feeling like I have been on a plateau as well.

Hmm… I wonder where they got those beautiful photos… I love to have one of those in my blog. :)

I think to be motivated and getting all your work done is a different thing. If you were motivated, you won’t worry about your work, maybe you won’t get all done by today, but you will finished it because you were motivated.
While getting your work done is possible even if you’re not motivated. One of this reason because you HAVE to get it done (maybe because dateline or certain punishment).

For you, I agree with Kim. It’s not about motivation (you already highly motivated :D ), all you need is priority. We blogger understand if you were busy, so don’t push it or you’ll end up with bad post.

  14. Mitch says:

I love these, but I sometimes see demotivators as something to relieve the pressure rather than to capture a feeling I’m having at the time. To me, it shows that someone else might be having it a bit worse than me, and that makes me say “okay, enough of that, let’s get back to work”. Great stuff.

  15. I can say that I am definitely someone who needs to have a set schedule. Otherwise, you will reach the end of the day and feel like you really have not done anything! If I map out a schedule, I tend to be more focused on getting those things checked off. I am someone that does internet marketing for a living, so it is very easy to get sidetracked when you have clients you need to work for, and you have your own side projects going on.

This is just my personal belief, and I realize not everyone is wired the same, but it sounds like you would be better able to manage your time with a schedule and who knows…maybe you find you have time for 3 more blogs afterall!

I never use demotivators poster to find motivation, what I know is that I like to see scenery photo so much. Well it kind of reminded me of my happy time with my family or friends.

Some scenery may be meaningful even though there are no words wrote in it. I don’t know what others think about it. But I like it the way i like it.

But demotivators poster is the same in some point. The picture is meaningful and thus may give someone motivation and make them feel better. Nice picture sure is good ;-) it give satisfaction to it’s owner and others who share the same interest.

Bit of reverse psychology here. Hope it’s working for you and hopefully a good sleep and another day brings more motivation.

  19. Thank you for sharing the poster. I like the one with the pyramids. I laughed at it. what I have in real life is exactly the opposite way, so many things to do but the my energy is very limited.
Whenever I feel demotivated, I’ll sleep on the floor or on bed or anywhere else near my youngest child as she doesn’t want to let me disappear from her sight.

Best wishes for your upcoming wedding too. May it last forever like the one your grandparents had. I really love their story.

  20. Nan says:

I completely empathize. The world seems to be spinning so fast – and there is so much to do- I think it is much more time consuming and difficult these days to earn a living – and that was even BEFORE our recent economic problems.
I think demotivation is our bodies and brains telling us we need a break – some down time. I think motivation comes from refreshment – but then – how is there time for that?

  21. Kristi says:

@David: Do you prefer the motivators images? :)

@Freddie: Apparently, plateaus are normal. I hope that you get out of yours soon as well.

@Sire: Yes, there is always the hope that the next day is better.

@Aldhis: I would rather go a few days with no post, than to put up a bad one just to get something up there.

I think that you can accomplish things without motivation, but it will not be your best work if you are just getting it done to do it, vs. having the motivation to do it as great as possible.

@Tamal: I think it was my way of showing how you can get motivation in times of having anything but. :)

@Dan: Yes, the penguins had to be included, hands down. No matter what it said.

    @Mitch: Thanks!

@Web Marketing: I’ve got a schedule going, but it is rather basic, and the first week of being scheduled has gone awry with changes in plans. But it already feels a bit better in getting prioritized things done.

@Zunnur: Thanks, it is getting there.

@fahmi087: I think looking at the demotivators helps you understand where your mind is. How some people can look at a beautiful picture, and find something negative in interpreting it. Whereas someone could look at the beautiful picture, then the negative comment, and their mind will find something positive instead from it.

@Jen: Sleep certainly makes a difference. That has been going better, and the days seem easier again.

@Dilasari: Thank you for the best wishes. I am happy to know I am in the kind of wonderful, lasting relationship that they have. :)

@Nan: I think we have to force ourselves to let go of that nagging to do list and give ourselves the downtime to gain that refreshment to be motivated again.
