Romantic Cravings

Romantic love, when perfect
Brings with it unending hunger
A craving is never to be satisfied
Not like a food, that when we have
Had too much, have our fill
Then lose the taste and need
New flavor to excite us
So if the craving never ends
For the love of another
Our desire for them will go on
To want to drink them in, like a thirst
That will forever be unquenched
Urges that are never fulfilled
Simply for the lack of time
To enjoy every experience
That could be imagined, living
In a never ending paradise

True Love

Not too long ago I wrote
of a fairy tale romance
I thought I would only
experience in my dreams,
and vicariously in classic
movies and love songs.
Then you came along
and turned those fantasies
into a reality when you
showed me what love
really could, and
always should be like.
You did it by listening,
being attentive to all
the details, tiny to
tremendous, proving
you cared about
everything I said.
By taking care of me
when I was not feeling my
best, pampering me
until I was well, and
finding ways to
keep me that way.
By not only being curious
about my aspirations,
but also offering
to support me and
help in any way
that I need.
By understanding that
I have always wanted
an epic romance,
and taking the time to
plan a way to sweep
me off my feet.
Most of all, by not only
saying the words, but
proving you stood behind
them in your actions,
making sure I knew how
much you love me.
Now I look forward to
spending the rest of my life
showing you all the love
I have to give in return,
because I want nothing more
than your happiness.

Engaged

Surprises throughout the day
My favorite flowers,
A relaxing massage
Handwritten notes, each with
Lines to a song and clues which
Led up to you opening your door
Looking so handsome with
A delicious dinner, romantic slow dancing
With your voice in my ear singing
The words to the music playing
Then a short trip, to the place
We first found we had a connection
The same fountain where we were
Once shy, but now
We sit close, hold each other and kiss
You had your moment planned
Asking me to take out of
The pocket of your jacket, draped over me
The final note, with the last selection
What you wanted
In return for the love you
Have shown, and I am so honored
To receive, and to return
Then it happened, the moment I
Had hoped that night would
You got on your knee,
Right there in front of me
With the fountain streaming into
The night sky filled with stars
More clearly visible than the first night
In the moonlight, and asked
Would I marry you
I had to hear it again, to be sure
With only one answer resounding
In my mind, in my heart, on my lips
Yes, most certainly yes
Since I realized I loved you,
I could not picture myself with anyone
But you, and wanted nothing more
Than for that moment to arrive
Now I find myself happy,
Blissful to be yours
A future bride, and a future groom
Destined to enjoy
Every moment, perfect because
We will be, always, together

Howling

The wind is howling, and
skies are turning gray.
Could it not be
the most marvelous day
if in bed together
we were able to stay?
I would not want to
spend it any other way.

Stargazing

One evening, we will drive
down this road I know well.
It will be long, but at its end
is a place where no city lights
will interfere, because few people
ever go there, a perfect place
for just you and I.
We will find a spot,
spread our blanket, set pillows down
and lay down in the back of my truck.
The only sounds we will hear
are those from nature herself
as we lay close.
We will gaze at the stars,
millions of them, twinkling down at us
some even wanting us to wish upon them
as they fall from their place
in the heavens.
No matter how many
stars we see, one thing is for sure.
The amount of light they shine
is no match for the amount
of love inside the hearts
of those who stare upon them
from where we will be that night.
