Using Demotivators Posters to Find Motivation

For the most part, I am a very positive minded person. But I think everyone has days where things just seem demotivating. Instead of fighting it today, I am going to embrace it with somewhat humorous Demotivators posters from Despair.com.

Achievement Demotivators Poster

There are so many things I want to achieve right now, including three more blogs, but I have no expendable labor. Just myself. And that resource is being fully consumed.

Burnout Demotivators Poster

When you realize the time you have daily is less than the time you need to accomplish all of the things you want to get done.

Challenges Demotivators Poster

Seriously, what happened to the little things working out? Like when I finally have the time to run up to the place to reserve the site for our wedding, and I get there to find out they are closed for the day.

Delusions Demotivators Poster

I feel like I’m at a plateau. Things I want learn and be good at so badly do not seem to be going well. It leaves me feeling like I should re-evaluate my goals to see if they are more delusional (in terms of time I have to work on them) than realistic.

Do It Later Demotivators Poster

In an attempt to get some things under control, I put other things off. The early bird has seemingly gotten a lot of the worms I needed.

Get To Work Demotivators Poster

This is definitely something I need to do. Get to work on my outstanding projects, finish unpacking, start my yoga again, wedding planning and so forth.

Limitations Demotivators Poster

I just threw this one on here because I love penguins.

Madness Demotivators Poster

That voice has been the never ending to do list. It feels like no matter where I am, what I am doing, I am always thinking of the next thing I need to do. It can be maddening.

Pressure Demotivators Poster

A basket case – that is exactly what I have felt like on and off for the past few weeks. And I don’t particularly care for being that way!

So today, by allowing myself to finally accept the fact that yes, I am demotivated, I have found source of my demotivation – time. I just need to get organized – get a routine back in place like I had months ago, and plot out a schedule of time to do all the things I want and need to do. Then I will be back on track and motivated again.

Fall Colors

Fall Leaves in Toyana Park, Niigata, Japan by shinyaiYour colors changed
When you drew near
That final moment of life
Like leaves on the trees
After the summer season
Had come and passed
But the colors were
Not bright nor radiant
Rather pale, drained of
Rosy red blood cells
Beneath the surface
The only beauty
To be remembered
From that day
Is the knowledge
That you were released
From your suffering

2008 Elections: Bill Clinton Wants Me to Vote for Obama

2008 Presidential ElectionsBill Clinton left me a voicemail yesterday, asking me to support Barack Obama. The one call on the day before elections was not too bad compared to the daily (sometimes twice a day) calls I was getting from John McCain’s camp, which felt more like a bill collector than a friendly persuasion call. Plus there are the other tons of local political recordings from Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Janet Napolitano, corporate commission candidates, and so forth. All in all, my phone is ready for this day to be over with.

My words of advice for today is to know that:

  • Your vote does count. I’ve heard several people say that their state is projected to go for one candidate, so they were not going to bother with voting for the other. This is just silly. Put your vote in anyway. Be a part of democracy.
  • On the flipside, if you do not like any of the presidential candidates, do not vote for someone you do not believe in just to say you voted. Do not vote for someone just because your parent/boss/spouse is supporting them. Vote for someone because you believe in what they stand for and that they will do what they say the will do.
  • Remember that local elections are important too. Read up about the propositions on the 2008 ballot and make decisions about your school district, reforming the payday loan system, defining marriage, increasing renewable energy, promoting cleaner fuels, helping disabled veterans, and more.

To see what people are saying on election day about Obama, McCain, Biden and Palin, check out Twitter’s Election 2008 coverage, Plurk the Vote, or do a Twitter search on local candidates and propositions.

Happy Voting Day!

People Come Into Your Life For A Reason

This is a poem by an unknown author. I have come across it a few times, and today, when it ended up in my mailbox again, I thought it would be a good thing to share.

———————————-

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,
To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are..
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
Things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson,
Love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant

Thank you for being a part of my life,
Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

———————————-

I think this is the perfect piece of writing to help us evaluate the relationships we have had in our lives. Maybe the people we have lost were just put in our lives for a reason, or a season. Once that reason had been filled, or the season had passed, they have to move on to continue fulfilling their purpose, whether in this world or beyond. The loss of their presence in our lives is painful, but once the mourning and longing for them has passed, we have to be thankful for all of the wonderful things they shared with us, and we with them.

The Sweetest Drug

Love is a drug
It comes in many forms
As there are varieties
Of potential lovers

You begin feeling strong
That you do not need it
Until you get a taste
By choice or by accident

Once you have the penchant
The craving will begin
It weakens in time only if
You can stop savoring it

But each time you do
The need, the desire for it
Grows stronger and begins
To drive you out of your mind

It makes you ecstatic
When you know you have it
It makes you almost crazy
When you stand to lose it

The quest to attain more
Can take over your thoughts,
Until all you can think of
Is this sweet drug, love
